BT reaches the 1million Wi-Fi milestone in UK

BT, the broadband and digital TV provider, recently hit the 1 million jackpot with Wi-Fi hotspots around UK and Ireland.

The BT spokesperson confirmed the story and stated that the broadband provider ahs provided more then 1 million hotspots across UK and Ireland. These hotspots have been made available in homes, high street chains and city centres.

Wi-Fi minute services have already been included in the company’s broadband packages while the rest can buy access to the same for a paltry sum of two pence per minute.

Gavin Patterson, chief executive officer at BT Retail, said: “Whether at home, at work or when out and about, wireless access is central to keeping people and communities better connected.

“We’ve grown from 500,000 to one million hotspots within six months, and will continue to add more to meet demand from smart-phone, laptop, iPod and now e-reader users.”
